Energetic Reasons Why The Body Has Trouble Losing Weight

If your body refuses to let weight go or easily gains weight, the issue may run deeper than just physical causes.

It’s no secret that weight gain and difficulty with weight loss are a massive problem in our modern world.

Physically, science has identified numerous factors that impact physical weight including: calorie intake, macronutrient intake, muscle mass to fat ratios, caloric deficit, exercise levels (amount of cardio and strength training hours per week), hormone function/levels, and fibrosis around fat cells that makes fat more difficult to burn.

People are struggling with distraction and inconsistency.

Society’s general activity levels are at a record low, jobs are mostly sedentary, stress levels are at an ultimate high, and people feel burnt-out, low energy, and lazy.

Distractions and over-stimulus with 1,000 things happening all at once create the perfect disaster in scattering our energy, making it difficult to focus and channel our energy into the important things that matter in our lives - like our physical well-being, our families/relationships, and our purpose/career path.

There are countless fixes and techniques now for just about everything - because the world of social media influencing and online business has turned everyone into a so-called expert, leaving online education controversial and sometimes contradictory with the numerous methods, leaving viewers/consumers confused about what is right for them. People are extremely exposed and can get distracted by the variability and options, and stuck spinning their wheels on finding the root of the core issue so they can address it and reclaim the weight they desire. It creates patterns of inconsistency in energy focus and in efforts.

The inconsistency shows in the common situation where someone tries an exercise or quick fix they found on social media, try it for a few days, and then stop because it wasn’t working, or because it was too much work, but most importantly (either consciously or subconsciously) they don’t fully understand why they’re doing it or if it’s even going to work for them.

Other individuals are working their asses of, but have little to show for it.

For individuals who may be a little more diligent in their efforts, they may try changing their diet, eating out less, starting exercise, reducing their cortisol levels through stress management, starting hormone replacement therapy, etc.

People can spend years, even decades trying out the various diets: Mediterranean, vegetarian, paleo, gluten-free, anti-inflammatory, fodMAP, borderline starvation. After enough trial and error to find the right combination for you, many people find improvements - many people persevere long enough before getting tired and giving up. Same thing goes for trying out numerous exercises or exercise methods. Many people find result in the short term, while others see results after a long time.

And these people aren’t wrong. Dietary intake, stress levels, activity level, and muscle and hormone health are very important - they are the necessary lifestyle changes for health and weight management - in the right doses of each thing for each person.

Both groups of people are exhausted.

These variables are plenty to manage and for many people, manipulating one or a few of these variables is enough to create massive changes in weight loss and fat reduction. And many people give up so early that the lifestyle changes barely had the opportunity to make a dent.

I’ve been in the exercise and rehabilitation industry for over 10 years, I’ve seen all the fads, tricks, and methods change and one thing remains - people still have trouble losing weight.. whether it is from a lack of adequate effort or not.

Yet even with pharmaceuticals to help both groups of people, some people still aren’t losing the weight.

And now with the weight loss drugs and GLP-1 trends, I find it shocking how many people still have trouble to lose weight, even when taking these drugs. The most common medication I see listed on my patient’s intake form is one of these weight loss drugs. Many people lose weight, and a shocking amount of people lose a few pounds and then stop, or lose nothing at all.

So how is it that despite all of these options and efforts, people still have trouble with excess weight and fat on their bodies?

The truth is, many people don’t feel safe on Earth anymore. Levels of fear, worry, and stress are high - resulting in people living in survival mode. The person’s energetic field and the whole body system feel this survival mode. Living in survival mode is like remaining in fight or flight mode - the body cannot rest and relax because it feels a threat (known or unknown). Physically, the nervous system is dys-regulated or heightened in this state; so cortisol levels are high, digestion worsens, and the body can pack on fat as protection. Energetically, the energetic field will unconsciously recruit ways to add protection or to add grounding to our energy to help it feel more safe - to survive.

Adding weight or fat mass adds a protective layer around the body for increased safety. It also adds padding that reminds our being of the safest place that it has ever felt - the womb, surrounded by the softness and protective layer of our mother. Increased weight also helps ground the body down to Earth. Heavier mass sinks, right? If you’re too light or thin, it’s easier for you to float away. Weight anchors you here to stay alive.

When your energy feels unsafe or feels like it needs extra protection to exist on this Earth, your energy will find ways unconsciously to add extra protection to increase its safety. It’s an energetic survival mechanism.

Reasons your energetic field may respond this way:

  • Emotional, physical, or childhood trauma from earlier in life that was unresolved.

    • Body image issues of feeling unsafe due to being too thin or physically scarce can contribute.

    • Having a deep mother wound where you felt unseen and unloved by your mother as a child can result in you building a big, heavy set body to be seen… by everyone, including your mother.

  • Past life experiences of lack of safety due to physically being too weak or vulnerable, like starvation, disease, or physical assault.

    • Death could have resulted from the body being too weak or fragile. So in this lifetime, you build a bigger, heavier body to protect yourself.

  • These experiences can also be from ancestral programs and patterns that you are carrying in your energetic field, inherited from your ancestors. Even if the weight was inherited, it continues to get passed down the bloodline until someone takes responsibility for addressing and resolving it.

    • Sometimes there are parts of the bloodline that were excluded and unacknowledged at one point (like unborn children), and for those parts to be acknowledged and seen, they can show up as extra weight on the outside of your body to allow them to be seen.

    • Unborn children can also show up as fat or cysts and you carry them to be a mother to them and acknowledging their existence through noticing the extra weight, as if you are energetically pregnant with them.

  • Feeling unsafe in life in general can also cause you to want to return to the safest place you’ve ever been - your mother’s womb - so the body creates energetic weight to build a soft, warm, cushioned layer around your body, resembling the safety of the womb.

Regardless of what the origin of the weight is, one truth remains for every individual. It is your responsibility to take care of the weight and keep trying and working on it until it’s resolved. The only way it resolves is through moving the energy - part of this energetic work is emotional as well as physically releasing the weight.

It resolves when it is directly addressed with the correct type and amount of effort - which will be individual to you. If it’s not resolved in this lifetime, it will be your responsibility in the next lifetime.

The safer you feel in the world, the less body mass you need.

How do you begin to feel safer in the world?

  • Build muscle mass to increase strength and endurance. Focusing on strength training and building muscle can release safety weight, because now you feel stronger and more capable to move through any difficulties life may throw at you.

  • Disconnect energetically from the mother’s womb and take responsibility for creating your own safety and security. Learn to identify if you feel a lack of safety emotionally, physically, spiritually, or mentally - and address it.

  • Energy work through energetic healing, past life exploration, and ancestral healing can be beneficial to help clear the karmic lesson of the weight, however physically addressing the weight is key to continue to take action on working through the energy.

If you are experiencing excess weight, it’s okay. Every person on this Earth has past life and/or current life trauma and karma that they are working through. Learning how to physically care for the body and physical well-being is a lesson for every individual, and these lessons can show up in various ways.

Acknowledging the weight and changing perspective that it is not a forever problem or a hopeless problem, but the weight remains there because it is serving a purpose to your growth - that growth typically requires acknowledging the lesson you need to learn and addressing it. Know that you will have less weight when you work on it and build your strength to feel safe and grounded again without the excess: energetically, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

At the end of the day, it does come back to the science of taking care of the body. Caring for the body helps care for your energy.

  • Eat for nutrition and nourishment, not for excess or emotional safety.

  • Exercise daily: move your body for cardio daily and push weights for strength training several times a week. Push past your limits. Do it even when you don’t want to. Change is created from consistency, not through motivation.

  • Take care of your stress/anxiety levels and work on daily habits to regulate the nervous system so the body and energetic system can leave survival mode and feel safe again. Learn to feel calm again.

    • Check out my nervous system regulation guide for a deeper guide on how you can do that. My guide lists numerous techniques and methods for you to try, so you can choose ones that you like, or experiment with new methods.

Consistent habits is an act of self love and can help grow strength and safety. Knowing that you are safe in trusting that you will show up for your self every day to take care of yourself is one of the strongest acts of self-created safety, self love, and strength through accountability and responsibility of oneself.

Not once. Not here and there. Not every other week. Show up for yourself daily with lifestyle CONSISTENCY.
